Magnus Carlsen vs Fabiano Caruana - 2014

Carlsen and Caruana - Gashimov Memorial - April 2014

The newly-crowned World Champion has not been resting on his laurels (as Fischer once did) and his latest foray was in the Gashimov Memorial. He managed to lose two games in a row (a feat that I, too, am frequently able to achieve with no trouble at all).

Nevertheless, Magnus won overall. The important game (played on 30 April 2014) was against Fabiano Caruana and it was an excellent match. I offer you this link in the knowledge that the commentary is first class. The commentator, "KingCrusher" (nee Tryfon Gavriel, FIDE 2150) currently has 5167 videos on YouTube and runs an excellent online chess club.

Here is a quote from the aforementioned "KingCrusher":
"The answer to life, the universe and everything was 42 according to 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy' but maybe for chess players it should be 64 ".

Your blog poster, , will be 64 years old on June 2nd!

When I get older, losing my hair, many years from now
Will you still be sending me a valentine, birthday greetings, bottle of wine?
If I'd been out 'til quarter to three, would you lock the door?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me when I'm sixty-four?

You'll be older too
Ah, and if you say the word, I could stay with you

I could be handy, mending a fuse when your lights have gone
You can knit a sweater by the fireside, Sunday mornings, go for a ride
Doing the garden, digging the weeds, who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me when I'm sixty-four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage
In the Isle of Wight if it's not too dear
We shall scrimp and save
Ah, grandchildren on your knee, Vera, Chuck and Dave

Send me a postcard, drop me a line stating point of view
Indicate precisely what you mean to say, yours sincerely wasting away
Give me your answer, fill in a form, mine forever more
Will you still need me, will you still feed me when I'm sixty-four?
